I have always been fascinated by the subject of the ‘uncanny’ and childhood stories we would often hear about ghosts and creatures lurking within the walls and beneath the furniture of our homes. This performance touched on cinematic horror techniques to unveil the unknown through reflective surfaces: mirrors world. (Referencing films such as The shining, Repulsion, The poltergeist and Persona).

My movements were momentary or sporadic which in turn generated a disconcerting sense as to whether the unfamiliar figure is in fact an illusion or physically exists, making the familiar space suddenly feel foreign.

This live performance was responsive to the infinite process in which this tunnel was manifested in parallel to Brunel's thought process and the public's absolute ridicule of them. Once started this project went onto encounter an infinity of challenges that made this endeavour almost never ending.

Working with another performer, we held mirrors to our faces trying to meet one another at points where we reflected a vortex of tunnels into one another. Upon doing do, we would giggle in delight reflecting the public's reaction and ridicule of Brunel's ideas. but in turn highlighting the genius and notion of it, that once the space was entered it was in constant flux without a beginning and end.
