About me.
Riffy is a Writer/director, and multidisciplinary artist based in London. She trained as a visual artist at Central Saint Martins before earning a Master's in Directing Fiction from the National Film & Television School (NFTS) in 2020, supported by a full Channel 4 scholarship.
Her work is driven by a passion for stories about 'unlikely heroes', with focus on characters at turning point in their lives and the choices they make to survive. Drawing on magic realism and genre-blending storytelling, her practice centres on women, diaspora identity, and the rich, complex nuances and spaces between worlds.
Her films have screened at Oscar and BAFTA qualifying film festivals and the art world. Career highlights include selection for the Hospital Club Foundation's Emerging Creative for Film & TV (2016/17), recognition as one of Channel 4's Spotlight Directors (2018), and a WFTV All Nations England mentorship (2022). She has also been named a Circa x Dazed Finalist (Class of 2022), shortlisted for the 1.4 Awards, and selected for both BIFA Springboard 21/22 and BAFTA Connect.
Her latest short film, The Call, supported by BFI Network and starring Jo Martin and Amarah-Jae St. Aubyn, has toured the international festival circuit and is now available to stream on Omeleto and Minute Shorts.
Most recently, Riffy participated in the director mentoring scheme on the BAFTA-winning Top Boy Season 3 (Netflix / Wells Street Films), shadowing director Myriam Raja and directing second unit work. She was selected for Directors UK Inspire cohort 2024/25, mentored by Mahalia Belo, and part of TV Collective's Breakthrough Leaders 2025. She is currently in early development with the BFI on her debut feature, My Father the Jinn.
